Review by Griz281
I bought these shoes because I wanted something better than the rental shoes at my gym. The rubber is decent. I'm able to stand on chips and smaller holds fairly well, but there are some big holds that the shoe just slips right off of. It might be the nature of the hold, but I expected to be able to stand fairly well on it. Smearing is fairly good.
Heel hooking is very good. There's just a huge piece of rubber on your heel that seems to mold around the hold.
I wear size 10.5 street shoe and I bought 10.5 for these shoes. At first they were pretty uncomfortable, but as I climbed a bit more, it became more tolerable. I have slight toe curl wearing these shoes.
My only major qualm about these shoes is the loops seem to make it very hard to loosen the shoes to take off. It's a slight annoyance but when you've just done a really tough climb and your hands are weak, it's annoying to have to use any dexterity you have left just to loosen the shoes.

Review by Geargeek

Mad Rock shoes are the best value on the market. These are high performance shoes for almost half the money of other brands. And they have the stickiest new Science Friction rubber.

I don't recommend buying climbing shoes online unless you've tried the specific model and size before because they are meant to fit tight and every shoe fits differently.

Size-wise, I found these fit the same as the Flash and Con-series line. I wear size 10 street shoes, and these fit tight with my toes fully curled in size 10. 9.5 was super tight, 9 was even tighter, and I could barely squeeze in 8.5 with pain (not recommended). The leather has a hemp lining so I don't expect these to stretch much at all, and these won't stink like synthetic shoes. The rubber at the bottom is kind of thin for great sensitivity, but I've heard one friend put a hole in them. Again, don't expect bomber Italian construction, but for the price, technology and performance, these can't be beat. But again, try before you buy online.

Review by G.Wong
These slippers are soft, precise, and snug. The overall quality is good, and left/right pair looks symmetrical. (I've seen shoes where left and right are visibly different in size and shape.) It's super light-weight and thin. They fit tight across the top, so those with high instep may have a hard time putting them on. The leather is cool to touch and absorbs moisture, good for those hot days (but bad for the cold days). The die does come off, but only if you sweat a bucket.

The heel cup is perfect for those with smaller heel and lower ankles (as mine are), since the rand is shaped lower, avoiding the painful ankle cut like other deeper-heeled shoes. The heel pops off easy (as expected for slippers), and the strap helps somewhat to keep the heel on, but not 100%. The heel rubber pattern plus EVA wedge makes it less sensitive for heel hooking, but also less painful.

The toebox is very asymmetrical and points downwards/inwards. It causes the big toe to straighten out a bit, while the other toes are tightly curled, which has a different feel than other shoes. The toebox may be very tight at first, but the leather softens and expands over time, giving more room. The downward shape also flattens out over time. After 9 months, these have definitely lengthened out by 1/2 size.

Toe rubber is pretty good, but shape and thickness makes it harder to bend the toes upwards. You need to develop stronger toe muscles to make use of this feature.

Sizing wise, I think they match 1:1 to normal shoe size. What I mean is, if you're size 7 Mens, then pick size 7 Mens in these to start with. Downsizing may be possible if these are exact fit.

What M.Arnold said abt it

Perfect for guys with bigger/wider feet! Has totally changed the quality of my climbing experience due to it's boxed-toe. I don't feel like I am trying to cram my toes into a women's high-heel shoe.
